    Market Commentary - Pre Session

    Indian benchmark indices are expected to start the day on a positive note on Friday. Investors will eye corporate earnings and global cues for market direction today.Trends on SGX Nifty also indicate a positive opening for the broader index in India. Nifty futures were trading around 11,277-level on the Singaporean Exchange.

    On Thursday, the 30-share benchmark ended at 37880.4 down by -297.55 points or by -0.78 % and then NSE Nifty was at 11234.55 down by -78.75 points or by -0.7 %.

    Top traded Volumes on NSE Nifty – YES Bank Ltd. 207266038.00, Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd. 73340563.00, Bharti Airtel Ltd. 47660614.00, State Bank of India 37577511.00, Tata Motors Ltd. 31229192.00, On NSE, total number of shares traded was 186.77 Crore and total turnover stood at Rs. 32715.91 Crore.

    On NSE Future and Options, total number of contracts traded in index futures was 391882 with a total turnover of Rs. 26068.28 Crore. Along with this total number of contracts traded in stock futures were 826291 with a total turnover of Rs. 42398.60 Crore. Total numbers of contracts for index options were 39273105 with a total turnover of Rs. 2453051.13 Crore. and total numbers of contracts for stock options were 700742 with a total turnover of Rs. 38150.50 Crore.

    On the global front, US stocks rose on Thursday on hopes that top-level US-China trade talks would yield at least a partial deal, while a jump in Apple’s shares also boosted the market.

    The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 150.66 points, or 0.57%, to 26,496.67, the S&P 500 gained 18.73 points, or 0.64%, to 2,938.13 and the Nasdaq Composite added 47.04 points, or 0.6%, to 7,950.78.

    Asian shares and US stock futures rose on Friday after US President Donald Trump said he would meet with China’s top trade negotiator, while sterling retreated after rallying on revived hopes of a possible Brexit deal.

    MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan rose 0.5%, following on from gains on Wall Street. Australian shares climbed 0.8%, while Japan's Nikkei stock index gained 0.9%.

    Back home, the rupee closed flat at 71.07 against the US dollar on Thursday as the anxiety over US-China trade talks kept investors on the edge. At the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee had opened at 70.96 against the US dollar. During the day, the domestic unit fluctuated between a high of 70.87 and a low of 71.15.

    IT major Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) yesterday reported weaker than expected Q2FY20 numbers, indicating that double-digit growth may elude the company this fiscal.
