Headline : Mid Session: Indices edge lower; Maruti Suzuki tanks over 1%

The benchmark indices have touched day’s low level and continue to trade in the negative zone dragged by IT, FMCG, bank, auto, realty and financial services sectors. Oil prices slipped more than 1 per cent amid weaker oil demand outlook and a rise in U.S. crude inventories. Among others, the shares of Dewan Housing Finance Corporation surged more than 6 per cent after the company paid Rs 961 crore interest on non-convertible debentures (NCDs). Whereas, the shares of Maruti Suzuki India shares dipped 1.6 per cent after global brokerage house Deutsche Bank maintains its 'hold' rating but slashed price target to Rs 6,325 implying 9 per cent potential downside from current levels.

At 12:21 hours, the SENSEX was trading at 39685.8 down by -264.66 points or by -0.66 per cent and then NSE Nifty was at 11885.7 down by -79.9 points or by -0.67 per cent. The BSE Sensex touched intraday high of 39982.1 and intraday low of 39653.59 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 11962.45 and intraday low of 11876.85.

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex were Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 502.75,+2.02%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 394.45,+1.19%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 170.50,+0.89%), Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 170.60,+0.80%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1335.25,+0.50%), among others. On the other hand, the top losers of the BSE Sensex were YES Bank Ltd. (Rs. 135.90,-2.44%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1480.90,-1.76%), Bajaj Auto Ltd. (Rs. 2939.75,-1.69%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (Rs. 2732.50,-1.56%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 415.45,-1.42%), among others.

Among sectors, Metal index was at 11025.83 up by 55.95 points or by 0.51%. Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. (Rs. 165.55,+2.13%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 502.75,+2.02%), Steel Authority of India (SAIL) Ltd. (Rs. 50.35,+1.61%), Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 170.60,+0.80%), Hindustan Zinc Ltd. (Rs. 242.50,+0.37%),. On the flip side, CGS index was at 19490.14 down by -197.16 points or by -1%. Suzlon Energy Ltd. (Rs. 4.65,-2.72%), Finolex Cables Ltd. (Rs. 455.40,-2.58%), GE T&D India Ltd. (Rs. 250.30,-2.19%), ABB India Ltd. (Rs. 1517.90,-2.09%), Thermax Ltd. (Rs. 1109.60,-2.03%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2439 , shares advanced were 985 while 1298 shares declined and 156 were unchanged.
